2018 was amazing at Conid
NEW WEBSITE
Although it is considered to be normal and no big deal for a company to have a trendy and up-to date website, we do are very proud and relieved as a team about our recent efforts. The realisation of our new website is done in-house by Pascal alongside an essential amount of input and guidance from the Conid team. Our new website will continue to receive a vital part of our attention to keep growing and improve towards our Conid-owners’ needs and desires.
THE CAVENS PEN
This year, we got inspired by the marvellous story of Jozef Cavens, a former primary school teacher. During his career, he has taught over 800 children how to read and write with a fountain pen. Passionate about writing, he exchanged his students’ spelling booklets with other teachers from all over the world. This resulted in a collection of 96 booklets, from France all the way up to Tanzania or even Japan. Conid decided to do something in return for Jozef, and what better way to honour him than with a very own fountain pen? This resulted in our newest special edition: the Cavens Pen, an elegant matte black edition of our Minimalistica Bulkfiller.
THE ANTWERPPEN SHOW
Definitely one of this year’s main highlights was our AntwerPPen & More exposition this summer. For the occasion, Conid set up an interactive tour in the SD Worx buildings at the Eilandje district in Antwerp. This brand new Conid exposition provided a unique glimpse behind the scenes, unveiled our brand new Cavens Pen and showed our strong and essential connection to Antwerp. We wanted to show the “More” behind Conid and our pens, but also behind our passion for engineering and handwriting. This eventually resulted into an interactive exposition, in which visitors could explore everything about Conid and our new Cavens Pen through sound, video and display. An overwhelming amount of visitors came by and left a beautiful –handwritten- note in our guestbook or in the shape of a pangram.
JOHAN’S RECOVERY
For those who have taken notice: Johan has fully recovered and has been able to return to the Conid team again. His fractured collarbone – the result of a very unfortunate bike accident – has been healing in the past month without external aid. The orientation and place of the fracture being out of reach and on the bottom side of the collarbone lead to the choice to skip any kind of surgery and handle it the conservative way. We are however very happy to welcome Johan, our all-important nibmeister, back at the Conid headquarters.
Just like previous years, Conid has always put you, our Conid fans, first”. Every one of our team members pursued the same goal: listening to your personal story and implementing our knowledge and craftsmanship in order to create your ideal fountain pen.
We would like to sincerely thank you for your trust this past year. Without you, after all, there would be no Conid. We will look back on 2018 with great pride and happiness.
However, with January just around the corner, we are already excited to make 2019 another year to remember, together with you.
